Helping women overcome menopause insomnia... I used to absolutely dread Sunday nights. The fear of spending another restless night with virtually no sleep and then wondering how I'll get through another busy week...
I suffered with insomnia for years, I even retrained in psychotherapy and hypnotherapy on my mission to overcome it. It worked. I gained a deep understanding of insomnia and discovered effective ways of getting the mind and metabolism to a place where dropping off into deep sleep came naturally and waking up refreshed become the norm again...
Everything was great, until the menopause came along! My sleep was stolen all over again! It was back to the drawing board, I embarked on further studies, becoming a menopause coach, delving into the science of lifestyle changes and solutions through the menopause transition.
This specialist training, on top of my 10 years experience in working as a therapist and mindset coach gave me the missing pieces of the jigsaw puzzle. Many “ah-ha!” moments later and I was able to put it all together – I was able to see the full picture. This included learning how the changes in my reproductive hormones impacted the whole endocrine system and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. This communication system between the three organs is crucial for your body's stress management.
This not only explained why my sleep went out of the window but also why I'd lay in bed with my heart racing and experienced hot flushes and night sweats. I learnt that I had to work with my circadian rhythm - sleep-wake cycle, taking practical steps and lifestyle adjustments. Again, I started swopping my insomnia nightmare for uninterrupted nights of deep restorative sleep.
Are all-nighters a distant memory for you? Then I have good news - there are things you can do to bring them back, despite our declining levels of oestrogen and progesterone!
If you want to turn your insomnia nightmare into deep restorative sleep, you’ll need to work on these 3 strategies:
• Mindset for Sleep Success!
• Reset your internal body clock.
• Rebalance the hormones involved with sleep and dial down the stress response.
But if you're reading this, I'd imagine you're feeling exhausted and even time-poor. Trying to juggle kids, job, elderly parents, relationships, house, and other responsibilities. Endless trawling through the internet trying to find advice, (only to find conflicting advice) is probably the last thing you want to do.
That’s why I’ve created ‘Reset Sleep during Menopause’ It's a short (no fluff) course – to help as many women as possible steal their sleep back from menopause!
If you'd like to find out more, watch this 15 minute FREE webinar that explains the 3 point process above. No need to book a time slot, it's instant access. There is a short 2 min spill at the end explaining more about my course but there’s no obligation. You’ll still come away with tips you can start today!
