What is Solution Focused Brief therapy?
Solution Focused Brief Therapy is an approach to psychotherapy which focuses on building solutions rather than analysing the problem. The therapist sets out to clarify what the client wants to happen in their lives and looks to seek strategies to bring this about.
Although the approach is called ‘Solution Focused’ this doesn’t necessarily mean that there is always a solution to every problem. In this case the client can be empowered to find ways of managing the problem.
As the name ‘brief’ suggests, the therapist will work quickly, yet the effects can be long lasting.
This therapy or coaching can be used for a wide range of problems from problems in one’s personal life or in the workplace.
